With the Danish Parliament’s approval of the new University Law, the IT Institute in Copenhagen (founded in 1999) changed its name and status on 1 July 2003 and officially became the IT University of Copenhagen (ITU).

The IT University has many current entrepreneurial initiatives running.

The IT University offers a strong research milieu with a comprehensive Ph.D. programme. The IT University is also the university in Denmark that can boast the most Master’s-level students. In addition, the IT University has an extremely large supplementary and continuing IT education programme.

ITU invests heavily in IT entrepreneurship and has therefore established a graduate programme in E-business. To make this possible, ITU has gone to great lengths to obtain the right – including external – teaching forces for the students in order to build a bridge between the different professions. As a result, as many as 72 companies have sprung from ITU. In order to increase these positive effects, we're working on plans to establish a school for entrepreneurship.

And finally, the 5th floor IT Greenhouse has been a huge success. ITU was the Entrepreneurship University of the Year in 2006.
