Fortunately elsewhere the connections between culture and nature are being explored from a philosophical and political point of view (Soper 1995) and from the position of feminism (Eaton and Lorentzen 2003), and the interface between sociology, environment and development is now central to the newly emerged subdiscipline of environmental sociology (Bell 2004; Dickens 2004).
