2 Background Multiple biology-inspired algorithms have been used for scheduling problems. Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) is based on the foraging behaviour of ant colonies . Artiﬁcial ants build solutions and exchange information through an indirect communication mechanism (stigmergy). An alternative method  proposes an implementation of Ant Colony System algorithm for a dynamic vehicle routing problem (VRP). The input is divided into multiple time segments, each is then treated as a static VRP.
